British-Nigerian heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has stepped up preparations for his highly anticipated fight against Tyson Fury by training with a specially designed heavy bag replica of the Gypsy King.
Joshua and Fury have signed contracts to finally settle their long-running heavyweight rivalry, but both fighters must first complete separate tune-up bouts before their expected showdown.
Joshua is scheduled to face Kristian Prenga in Jeddah on Saturday, while Fury will take on 46-year-old veteran Mariusz Wach in Thailand as part of their preparations.
Joshua’s first-ever boxing coach, Sean Murphy, revealed the customised training equipment, explaining that the heavy bag was designed to resemble Fury’s physical features, including his chin, to help Joshua prepare for the challenge ahead.
According to Murphy, Joshua has been instrumental in improving facilities at the gym, providing the heavy bags currently in use and personally funding other upgrades, including new ring covers and improvements to the female changing room.
The potential Joshua-Fury clash has attracted global attention, with boxing fans eagerly awaiting the matchup between two of Britain’s biggest heavyweight stars.
Both fighters will now focus on their upcoming assignments before turning their attention to what could become one of the biggest heavyweight fights in recent years.
