ABUJA – Atiku Abubakar, the 2027 presidential hopeful from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has stirred the pot by claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is actually 90 years old. He insists he has the proof to back up this bold assertion.
In a recent interview with the BBC, published on Friday, Atiku stated that he’s ready to present this evidence in court if it comes to that.
The former Vice President also took a moment to justify his ongoing pursuit of the Nigerian presidency, emphasizing his long-standing opposition to military rule and the disqualifications he’s faced in past elections.
Atiku believes his right to run for office is firmly rooted in the constitution, and he’s eager to serve the nation. He pointed to his experience, competence, and patriotism as key reasons he feels he’s the right person to lead Nigeria.
When discussing the country’s security issues, Atiku attributed the escalating insecurity to what he called government irresponsibility, particularly in defense and policing.
He vowed that if he were to be elected, his administration would take swift and decisive action to address insecurity and enhance the nation’s security framework within the first year of his presidency.
“You have a President who is 90 years old now and not in great health, while I’m fit and ready to serve. So why wouldn’t I step up for my country?” Atiku remarked.
“You chose to vote for someone who is 90 years old. I have proof that President Tinubu is indeed 90, and I’m prepared to present it in court,” he added.
