The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has directed all officers and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to desist from unauthorised social media activities capable of undermining the integrity, professionalism, and public image of the Force.
The directive was contained in a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, and made available to journalists.
According to the statement, the IGP stressed the importance of discipline and professionalism in the use of digital platforms by police personnel.
The statement read:
“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has directed all officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force to desist from unauthorised social media activities capable of undermining the integrity, professionalism, and public image of the Force.”
The police leadership noted that officers must exercise caution in their online engagements and avoid comments, videos, publications, or activities capable of bringing the Force into disrepute or compromising official operations.
The statement further emphasized that adherence to ethical standards, both online and offline, remains essential to maintaining public trust and confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
The directive forms part of ongoing efforts by the Force Headquarters to strengthen discipline, reinforce professionalism, and safeguard the reputation of the Force.
The Nigeria Police Force urged all personnel to comply strictly with the directive, warning that any violation of established regulations may attract appropriate disciplinary measures.
