- Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has been granted bail of 100 million naira with one surety in a like sum by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Justice Abdulmalik, while delivering the ruling on Monday, stipulated that the surety must reside in either the Maitama or Asokoro districts of Abuja and deposit the original Certificate of Occupancy of a landed property with the court registry. The surety must also be a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 17, providing proof of salary payments for at least three months, authenticated by a letter from the bank manager within the court’s jurisdiction.
Additional conditions require the surety to depose to an affidavit of means, enter into a bail bond, and submit a recent passport photograph to the court registry. El-Rufai must also deposit all valid international passports with the court. Verification letters from the surety’s department and a tax clearance certificate covering the last six months are also required.
The court directed El-Rufai to report to the Department of State Services headquarters on the last Friday of each month by 10 a.m. to sign the attendance register pending the determination of the case. Failure to comply would result in automatic revocation of bail.
Justice Abdulmalik further ordered the submission of a letter of attestation from the Chairman of the Kaduna Traditional Council as part of the bail conditions.
