Ovie Omo-Agege Joins NDC, Declares 2027 Delta Central Senatorial Ambition

Delta State, Nigeria – Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has officially joined the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and declared his intention to contest for the Delta Central senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement released on Thursday, Omo-Agege said the decision came after weeks of consultations with political associates, supporters, and stakeholders across the country.

He stated:
“Today, I formally announce my decision to join the National Democratic Congress [NDC]. This decision is the product of weeks of reflection, wide consultations, and honest conversations with the people I serve.”

According to Omo-Agege, one recurring message from these engagements stood out: Deltans want leadership that listens first, acts with integrity, and delivers results that can be seen and felt in daily life.

He also extended gratitude to key NDC leaders, including Senator Seriake Dickson, Peter Obi, and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for their engagement during the process.

“I thank the leadership of the NDC for reaching out and engaging me in this process. Their commitment to building a credible, people-first alternative gives me confidence that the NDC is the right platform for Delta State and Nigeria,” he added.

Omo-Agege described the NDC as a party built on inclusion, accountability, grassroots participation, and true federalism, emphasizing that decisions are made openly, not behind closed doors.

On this platform, he confirmed that he would contest for the Delta Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 elections. He clarified:
“This is not about me. This is about the mandate you entrusted to me in 2019 and the renewed call from our people for my return to the Senate to provide effective representation.”

The former Deputy Senate President highlighted Delta State’s enormous economic potential, lamenting that it has not yet translated into improved living conditions for residents. He also raised concerns about the state of infrastructure and public services in many communities.

Omo-Agege’s announcement marks a significant political development ahead of the 2027 elections, signaling a renewed push for effective representation and development in Delta Central.
