Ovie Omo‑Agege Declares for Delta Central Senatorial Seat on APC Platform

A former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo‑Agege, has officially declared his intention to contest the Delta Central Senatorial District election in 2027.

Omo‑Agege, who served as Deputy Senate President during the 9th National Assembly, made the announcement affirming that he will seek the senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In his declaration, the veteran lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to representing the people of Delta Central at the National Assembly and contributing to the development of his district and the nation.

Omo‑Agege is no stranger to high‑profile political contests. In the 2023 general elections, he contested the Delta State governorship election under the APC but lost to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who ran on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Oborevwori has since defected to the APC.

The Delta Central race is expected to attract significant attention given Omo‑Agege’s national profile and his prior leadership role in the Senate.

As the 2027 electoral cycle draws nearer, political watchers will closely monitor developments within the APC and other parties on how candidate positioning shapes up in one of the key senatorial districts in South‑South Nigeria.
