KEBBI HIGH COURT JUDGE ABDUCTED BY GUNMEN, POLICE LAUNCH RESCUE OPERATION

A judge of the Kebbi State High Court, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, has been abducted by gunmen suspected to be bandits in Bunza Local Government Area of the state.

The judge was reportedly taken from his residence along Zogirma Road in the early hours of Sunday, shortly after returning from a trip to Sokoto State.

Sources said the attackers stormed the residence around midnight and whisked Justice Bunza away to an undisclosed location. No other person in the house was reportedly injured during the incident.

The abduction was immediately reported to relevant authorities, including the leadership of the Kebbi State High Court.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, said security operatives have commenced efforts to rescue the judge.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Umar Muhammad Hadejia, ordered the deployment of tactical and intelligence teams to search for the abducted judge.

According to the police, security personnel are currently combing suspected locations, including forest areas and other hideouts, to ensure Justice Bunza is rescued safely.

A senior official of the Kebbi State High Court described the incident as disturbing, particularly because the judge was taken from his residence.

The judiciary and security authorities are working together as efforts continue to locate and secure the release of the abducted judge.
