Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has joined the Rainbow Coalition, a political movement founded by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor announced the decision on Wednesday during the foundation-laying ceremony of the RIVEN Medical Industries Project in Rumuosi, Port Harcourt.
Fubara also urged his supporters to vote for candidates affiliated with the coalition and confirmed his return to Wike’s political family.
“I am supporting President Tinubu for the Presidency and OK Chinda to be the next Governor of Rivers State.
“I am part of the Rainbow Coalition, and I’m back to my political family,” Fubara said.
The governor called on political stakeholders across Rivers State to end the prolonged crisis in the state, urging them to set aside differences and support efforts aimed at achieving peace and development.
The announcement has generated reactions among residents and supporters, with some welcoming the move while others expressed disappointment over the governor’s decision.
Fubara’s decision marks a major political realignment in Rivers State as parties and politicians begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
