Tinubu Admits Economic Reforms Caused Hardship for Nigerians

President Bola Tinubu has acknowledged that the economic reforms undertaken by his administration have brought significant challenges for Nigerians, adding that the process has also taken a personal toll on him, including sleepless nights and weight loss.

Speaking shortly after being officially announced as winner, Tinubu commended the national chairman of the electoral committee and all members involved in the process, recognizing the effort and sacrifices required from everyone.

“The national chairman of the committee, the entire members of the electoral process committee, the steadfast support and sacrifices of Nigerians across the country, I salute all of you from all walks of life,” Tinubu said.

He added, “You’ve given me encouragement. Sometimes it is difficult and I shared the pain with you. I know what it takes to reform this economy that was in tatters. If you lost sleep, I lost some too. If you have lost weight, I think I have lost some too.”

Reflecting on his decision to pursue the presidency, Tinubu said, “But I’ve always remembered one thing: that year 2022, I asked for this job and you all supported me and I got it, so I must do it.”
