Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has reacted to the court-ordered detention of B-Lord, saying no one should applaud the imprisonment of any citizen under the guise of legal process.
In a series of remarks shared on X, Sowore expressed concern over the development, arguing that the detention should not be seen as a triumph for justice or legal advocacy. He said the move could further strengthen a system that uses the law as a tool against the people.
“I have read about the court-ordered detention of an individual known as B-Lord, and I must say this clearly that no one should celebrate the incarceration of any person under the color of law.”
Sowore also disclosed that he had contacted his lawyer, Marshal D F Abubakar, instructing him to withdraw from the matter.
“I have reached out to my astute rights lawyer, Marshal D F Abubakar, urging him to disengage from the process.”
According to him, the detention of B-Lord should not be treated as a legal success, but rather as a troubling sign of how the justice system can be used to suppress citizens.
“We must all agree that sending B-Lord to prison is not a victory for legal brilliance or advocacy. Rather, it risks emboldening a system of oppression that weaponizes the law against citizens.”
He further insisted that justice should not be driven by punishment alone and vowed to pursue efforts toward ending the case and securing B-Lord’s freedom.
“Justice must never be reduced to punishment for its own sake. I will work to ensure this case is discontinued and B-Lord is released without further delay”
