- Gunmen reportedly invaded Ahoro-Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., targeting Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele.
- The attackers abducted an unspecified number of students and the school principal, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, and shot a teacher.
A source close to the community revealed that the principal was driven away in her car, while the assailants later escaped into a nearby forest reserve. The source added:
“An unspecified number of students. We don’t know their number. The school principal, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, was also abducted. They also shot a teacher in the school. I don’t know the sex of the teacher. The police station is far from that place. The nearest police station should be Ikoyi Division.”
Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the attack but did not verify any abductions. He stated that the Commissioner of Police and his team were on their way to the area.
“There was an attack in that area. The Commissioner of Police is on his way to the area,” Ayanlade said.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident, and efforts to rescue the abducted individuals are ongoing.
