Nollywood actress and skit maker, Oluwabukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, popularly known as KieKie, has shared the reasoning behind her decision to cohabit with her husband before they officially tied the knot.
In a candid interview with media personality Toke Makinwa, KieKie explained that her move to live with her husband was grounded in practicality. She revealed that at the time they decided to live together, they had already completed their traditional wedding rites and were preparing for the white wedding.
KieKie further disclosed that her rent had expired, and rather than renewing the lease, she opted to move in with her husband.
“Before my husband and I got married, we lived together for about four months. My rent had expired, and we were getting married in January, so I said to myself, ‘Why pay another rent?’ People might judge it, but I wasn’t going to waste money. We’d already done our introduction. The church didn’t know about it, and I used to sing in church that time,” she remarked.
The decision, while unconventional for some, was seen by KieKie as a practical step in managing her finances while preparing for the upcoming wedding. Despite potential judgment from others, KieKie emphasized that she was focused on practicality rather than societal expectations.
KieKie’s openness about her personal life has sparked discussions about relationship choices and the evolving nature of traditions in modern marriages.
