CAC Suspends Companies’ Registration Portal After Cyberattack, Launches Investigation

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced the temporary suspension of its companies’ registration portal following a cyberattack on its database that has affected millions of data points in Nigeria.

The commission made this known in a statement on its X account on Wednesday, confirming the unfortunate incident.

According to the statement, the suspension of CAC’s portal will last for three days, from April 17th to Monday, April 20th, 2026.

CAC noted that it is collaborating with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to address and mitigate the impact of the breach.

Additionally, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has commenced an investigation into the data breach, as confirmed on Friday.

“To serve you better, we will be carrying out scheduled maintenance on our portal this weekend, from 12:00 midnight today, 17th April 2026, to 6:00 a.m. on Monday, 20th April 2026. During this period, the portal may be temporarily unavailable,” CAC stated.
