Petrol prices are on the rise in various parts of Nigeria following the Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s decision to bump up its gantry price from ₦1,265 to ₦1,350 per litre, marking an increase of ₦85.
This change has led to higher pump prices in some areas, with reports indicating that petrol is now selling for around ₦1,380 to ₦1,395 per litre at certain filling stations in Lagos. It’s worth noting that prices can differ based on location and the marketer.
This latest hike comes at a time when international crude oil prices are also climbing, with Brent crude now trading above $100 per barrel, putting additional pressure on the downstream petroleum market.
Impact on Nigerians
The rise in petrol prices could lead to increased transportation, logistics, and operating costs for businesses, which may, in turn, affect the prices of goods and services.
On another note, the Dangote Refinery is making waves beyond just the fuel market. Its IPO is offering 4.1 billion shares at ₦525 each, with the subscription period running from September 14 to October 13, 2026.
The refinery’s expanding role in domestic fuel supply and its share offering represent significant developments for both Nigeria’s energy sector and investment landscape.
