Tyla has unexpectedly dropped Lagos, Nigeria, from her A*POP World Tour schedule, as revealed in the latest update to the official tour lineup.
Initially, when the tour was unveiled earlier this week, Lagos was included as one of three stops in Africa, alongside Cape Town and Johannesburg. However, a new tour poster released just before ticket sales has left out the Lagos date, now only featuring the two South African cities for the African segment of the tour.
This change has ignited a flurry of reactions on social media, with many fans expressing their confusion and disappointment over the missing Nigerian concert.
Interestingly, this development comes on the heels of some Nigerians calling for a boycott of Tyla’s Lagos concert due to ongoing concerns about alleged xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa. However, neither Tyla nor her management has confirmed that this backlash played a role in the decision to remove Lagos from the schedule.
As of now, Tyla and her team have yet to release an official statement clarifying why Lagos was taken off the tour itinerary.
The A*POP World Tour, which supports Tyla’s latest album, is set to span Europe, North America, and Africa, with the African leg now wrapping up with shows in Cape Town and Johannesburg, unless any further changes come to light.
